This bird tends to flock with nearly ten thousand of its kind in the winter in Saurashtra.
Sadly, these birds are becoming endangered.
Two of these birds were found to be very sick and they were not able to stand on their own. The cause of illness was most likely due to poisonous or chemically altered food.
Luckily, after days of care and observation, the birds were able to regain their strength and fly back into the wild.

Demoiselle Crane Rescue in Bhavnagar, India

Period : 17/12/2010  to 24/12/2010
Demoiselle Crane –once a very common winter visitor to Saurashtra in India, flocks of ten
thousands or more was a common sight. Today you are lucky if you see a
hundred birds. This bird is highly endangered today. This particular wounded bird was found very sick with two other dead birds of the same species.
The poisoning was possibly caused by their intake of pesticides or dangerous chemicals which are freely spread around their natural habitat. Luckily after much care and laxative treatments, the bird
was revived and after keeping  and feeding the bird for a week in observation, we released it back in wild.
